Batman v Superman trailer is released early

Scheduled to be premiered on Monday, the Batman v Superman trailer is released early after leaked cam footage appeared online Friday afternoon. While the leaked footage was shaky with spanish subtitles it was still enough to push Warner Bros to release the trailer sooner than anticipated.

Ben Affleck, looking good in an armoured batsuit as he sizes up to Superman, is seeking to waylay the doubters that have been highly vocal in criticising his casting as the fan-favourite character.

The trailer looks to be pulling heavily from Frank Miller’s 1986 seminal ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ graphic novel, a comic that was one of the first to explore the potential darker side of heroes and the power they wield. In the novel Superman has become a global weapon for the US and is no longer the saviour of the people but a government controlled stooge. This is something, unsurprisingly, that Batman has a bit of an issue with. The big question will be whether the movie can live up to Frank Miller’s heavy-fisted brawler version of the dark knight, who is more about broken bones than high-kicking acrobatics.

The Batman v Superman movie will be released in 2016.

For some reason i just cannot get excited about this. I liked the last Batman movies and thought superman was ok. But the thought of Affleck as Batman…my brain won’t let me process this as a good thing. Hope i’m wrong and it rocks but wont be rushing to find out.

I am not super excited about this either. I think I am having a superhero comedown.

I think Affleck is going to pull it off. Just the fact the film studio has had the balls to use him I think says that this could work. Also, this is the fight of all fights. If Green Arrow also makes his appearance, it’ll be amazing.

If they make it anything like the Daredevil TV series it could work – because Daredevil is brutal.

And yes, the irony is not lost on me either.

We’ve just finished Daredevil. I thought it was a brilliant series and loved how they did Wilson Fisk. Not sure about the Daredevil costume though.
